The Stihl MS171 chainsaw is very popular with homeowners balancing power and performance against budget.

The Stihl MS171 has a modern design and uses an economical Stihl 2-MIX engine. With a 31.8cc engine that generates 1.3kW / 1.8hp, the MS171 is ideal for cutting firewood and occasional grounds maintenance tasks around the garden.

Stihl have fitted the MS171’s engine with a compensator to ensure that the engine keeps running at peak performance even when the air filter starts to get dirty. The MS171 also features Stihl’s long-life air filter system to ensure maximum life from the air filter. When it is time for a spot of maintenance, the top cover is easy to remove without the need for tools.

The Stihl MS171 is easy to start and the main Off-On-Choke control lever is easy to operate and conveniently placed.

Adding chain oil and fuel is very quick and easy with Stihl’s quick release tank caps.

Chain tensioning is achieved on the Stihl MS171 by loosening just a single nut (combination tool provided) and using the side chain tensioner which keeps your hands away from the chain whilst turning the adjuster.

The Stihl MS171 chainsaw is the perfect choice for anyone wanting a quality homeowner chainsaw at an economical price.

The Stihl MS171 is available with a 12” (30cm) or 14” (35cm) guide bar. Please note, cutting length will always be a little shorter than the bar length because of the way guide bars are measured. The difference between the guide bar length and cutting length varies by chainsaw model.
